UPS Global Checkout™ for BigCommerce settings

Customize your rates, buffers, and service levels to fit how you ship internationally.

After connecting your UPS account, you can manage how rates are calculated and which UPS services are offered to your customers. All settings are available in the UPS Global Checkout app in your BigCommerce control panel.

Rate management

Your negotiated UPS rates are used by default — no setup is required for live rates. To override them for specific services and countries, add a flat rate.

To add a flat rate:

  1. In Rate Management, click Add Flat Rate
  2. Choose the UPS international service the rate applies to
  3. Set your rate by cart subtotal or cart weight, then add one or more rate ranges (for example, "between $0–$100, the shipping rate is $15")
  4. Select the countries the flat rate should apply to
  5. Click Save

Saved flat rates appear in a Rates table showing the rate, service, and countries. Flat rates can't be edited in place — to change one, remove it and add it again. When a flat rate matches an order's destination, it's used instead of the live rate.

Shipping buffers

Shipping buffers adjust the shipping total shown to customers at checkout by adding an increase or decrease to the rate.

To add a shipping buffer:

  1. In Shipping Buffers, click Add Shipping Buffer
  2. Choose the UPS international service the buffer applies to
  3. Enter a buffer name and description
  4. Choose Increase shipping or Decrease shipping, then set the unit (percent or amount) and the value
  5. Select the countries the buffer should apply to
  6. Click Create

Saved buffers appear in a Shipping Buffers table. Like flat rates, buffers can't be edited in place — remove and re-add to change one.

Enabled service levels

By default, all UPS international services are enabled. To disable a service:

  1. Go to Enabled Services
  2. Uncheck the box next to the service level you want to disable

Changes save automatically. Only the enabled services are offered to customers at checkout.
